Stephen G. Miller and his attempt to save 'Greekness of Macedonia'

Image
It has been a while since the historian Stephen G. Miller sent out a "cry for help". Macedonia is Greek, and it must stay that way - was his story!  In a circular letter he tried to persuade other historians and academics to jump on his horse. At first, some did so, but nowadays his attempt is almost forgotten. Only almost, because some Greek nationalists still use his (poor) action at the time and the website he founded as the basis for their "arguments". But Miler's attempt was criticized among scholar. Open criticism hit him in the German media. Uwe Walter sharply criticized this call in a column in the FAZ, the German historian described Miller's call as an "embarrassing historical-political call". The British academic of Swiss origin Andreas Willi also criticized Miller's approach and the "arguments" he put forward. And indeed, politics was the motivation for the American PHD Miller to write this (embarrassing) appeal. His appe...

Zorba the Greek or Chorba the Macedonian?

Image
Another Theft This Time Zorba He Was Born Macedonian And Is Buried In Skopje Zorba the Greek Unmasked: Chorba the Macedonian by Dr. Alex K. Gigeroff, Ph.D. Originally published September, 1990 To make a good soup you have to collect the ingredients and cook it very slowly. My Dedo Naumche was born in Macedonia way back about 1870. I never met him but I've heard lots about him. Sometimes I think about him. Apparently he really liked soup and I imagine that he enjoyed it ever since he was a child. He enjoyed soup as an experience and everything that went into making and eating it. He enjoyed the whole process. He loved having food in the house. He enjoyed the aroma of the dish as it bubbled and simmered slowly in the big pot that hung on a rack in the fireplace. And just as much, he loved that first taste, every mouthful and particularly the last spoonful. In my mind's eye, I can see him when he had finished his soup that he had eaten with home made bread. I see him brushing asi...

American missionaries created the Bulgarian alphabet and national language around 1850

Image
Bulgaria continues to deny the existence of the Macedonian language. The official position of Bulgaria on this subject is as follows: "Macedonian is a West Bulgarian dialect" is one main argument from Sofia, whereas they argue further. Today's Macedonian language did not naturally emerge from the Bulgarian language as a dialect, but was "artificially created by the communists of Yugoslavia" do claim bulgarians. In the course of this, some also accuses the Macedonian language was "de-Bulgarized" by force. These theses are of course absurd, and nothing more than the continuation of the centuries-long Bulgarian agitation against Macedonia, the Macedonians as well as everything Macedonian itself. Even as an EU member, Bulgaria sticks to this chauvinist and irredentist argument. Bulgarians were a Turkic people who owned a language of Turkic origin This argumentation is of course in contradiction to reality, and the Macedonian as well Bulgarian history. Bec...

Bulgaria claims Clement of Ohrid - without a single fresco in their churches

Image
After the recent political events, we had to write a topic to match.  It is no secret that a large part of the official history of Bulgaria is based on actors from Macedonian history, for centuries Bulgaria has been anxious to usurp and take over Macedonian history. Now the Macedonian prime minister Zaev seems to have been brought to the point of making concessions to the Bulgarians - this is how Macedonian history books are to be rewritten. Therefore we want to show an example of how Bulgaria is taking over Macedonian history. Here is the example of the holy Kliment (Clement) from Ohrid. To do this, we first opened the Bulgarian Wikipedia page and read right at the beginning: " Kliment is a Bulgarian scholar, the first episcope and preacher of the old Bulgarian language ". We take this as the official opinion of Bulgarian history, or better, to say, propaganda. Kliment was born around 840, the Bulgarian Empire spread over Macedonian soil from 837. It was not until 864 that ...

False Greek discovery from Vergina

Image
According to the official website for the Greek heritage, archaeological discovery in modern Vergina by Greek archaeologist Manolis Andronikos is represented like a great discovery, without any reservation stating that it is the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander Macedon. On all sides they proudly points out the figure of " around one million people annually visit the Vergina archaeological site since 1997 and their number is expected to increase after construction of the Museum of Vergina .” This statement was made by the Culture Minister, Evangelos Venizelos in 2002 on the occasion of 10th anniversary of the death of Manolis Andronikos, the archaeologist who discovered "Tomb of King Philip II the father of Alexander the Great." When you consider the number of visitors to this site and repeatedly loud repeated lie about the "tomb of Philip II," then it becomes clear to us how the Greeks are defending their positions. However, one thin...
